Association
Cat....DOG!
Blue....SKY!
Rain.....BOW!
Well the last time I played this was laying in bed one night when I could not sleep. Matt was tired so he just looked around the room for words to say. Stuff like door, ceiling, stars, moon, simple stuff. Then he said fan.. and that is where this story really begins.
So I asked a few friends what they think of when they hear the word fan and they said:
"Van"
"Air"
"Wind"
"Spin"
"Breeze"
These are all normal people responses. When Matt said fan, my first reaction was "ISTER!". He kinda rolled over, looked at me and said "What the?". My brain works in weird ways, lets say that first. The reason I said "ister" is because for some reason I thought of banister and rhymed fan with banister and got "FANISTER". So the question is, what the hell is a fanister? Well Matt and I had fun with that. We threw around some ideas and eventually came up with a banister that has fans in it. Don't steal it! It's our idea. Ha ha ha.
All of this happened about 6 months ago and then last night, out of the blue Matt brought it up again. And then we took it to the extreme. We decided we want a fanister on the fanistairs in our fanihouse which is in the fanicountry on the faniearth in the FANIUNIVERSE. Yes... we are weird.. we already know this.
Thought this would give at least one person a laugh. If you have any funny stories of things you have said leave them in the comments :) I'd love to see that their are other weird people out there too! Ha ha ha.

Personal Assignments
Over the weekend I did an assisting job with a professor from NSCC. The shoot itself didn't turn out very good as there were a few cancellations but I did learn a lot while I was there. I had never been to the NSCC Dartmouth Waterfront campus and it was really nice to get in there and look around. The building is absolutely amazing! Coming from doing 2 years in business at Dalhousie it was so cool to walk through NSCC and see illustration labs, studios, sound proof rooms, and recording studios instead of the chem labs, calculus offices and auditoriums I have been accustomed to.
While there Erin and I talked a lot about photography in general, his experience and the photography program itself. I got to look at student work and while viewing the photographs I kept thinking to myself, "I could really do this and be great at it!". So I have decided I'm going to go to NSCC and take the photography program. When I will do this I am not sure but I do want to complete it. I kind of miss being is school. Ha ha ha.
In the meantime I have decided to give myself "Personal Assignments". In the photography program they have weekly photo assignments. One of my friends is in his second year of the program and I have asked him to give me the topics for the assignments he is doing and try to do them myself. Here and there I am also going to give myself one that I made up and I want to try. Wish me luck!
As no post is a good post without a photo here is one that I had laying around from when I did my daily photo project last year :)

Wine Review - Funky Llama
Funky Llama Chardonnay, Mendoza Argentina, 2004
Readers rated this wine:
"An unoaked Chardonnay with a brilliant yellow-hue and obvious tropical fruit aromas. Fresh pear, melon, lemon, candied toasted nuts and lemon-butter notes. On the palate the Llama is smooth and creamy with spiced pear and vanilla flavours it has a warm mid-palate that softens nicely on the finish."

Ring Light
I think over all the studio might not be my thing. I like natural light, the great out doors and letting people interact with each other or be silly all on their own. I do know that I want to gain more experience (and knowledge of how to) in the studio so that I can do that if I need to for a specific client or if I have a project I would like to work on. As a matter of fact! There is a project I'm looking to do in the studio, as soon as I get the money to book it and get a make-up artist.
Well here are some photos from the studio work. The first couple were taking using natural light from a window.

How fast can you do it?
So the about a week ago I started watching YouTube videos explaining how to solve the Rubik's Cube. Specifically these two: Video 1 Video 2. There is actually methodology behind solving them and once you remember the different algorithms for different situations it becomes pretty easy to solve. I think my biggest challenge now is mixing them up. Hahaha. I usually get other people to do that for me.
A friend of mine (Dave) is what they call a "speed cuber". This means that he can solve a Rubik's Cube in under 40 seconds, although I believe I have seen him do it in like 20 ish seconds. The world record for the fastest solve is 7.08 seconds made by Erik Akkersdijk. Pretty impressive eh?
Well although I cannot solve a Rubik's Cube in under 40 seconds, I did just time myself today at CubeTimer and my solve took 2 minutes, 33.03 seconds. YaY me!! Nerdy, I know, but I'm OK with that! I hope to learn some new algorithms in the new year from my friend Dave and be able to solve it faster and faster. I'll have to track my progress on here!
Here's a photo of the Rubik's Cubes I have been using. The one on top was givin out at work a few months ago and the one on bottom is actually one I have borrowed from Dave until I buy a good one for myself.
